The Pizza Hut Story

The legacy of Pizza Hut began in 1958, when two college students from Wichita, Kansas, Frank and Dan Carney, were approached by a family friend with the idea of opening a pizza parlor. Although the concept was relatively new to many Americans at that time, the brothers quickly saw the potential of this new enterprise.

In March, 2017, Restaurant Brands New Zealand Limited completed its acquisition of Pacific Island Restaurants, Inc., the parent company of TD Food Group, Inc, operators of 80 Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan. Restaurant Brands purchased TD Food Group, Inc. from Nimes Capital, a private investment arm of Nazarian Enterprises that purchased the company in December 2012.

Prior to Nimes Capital's acquisition of the company, TD Food Group, Inc. was owned by Brentwood Associates, a Los Angeles-based private equity investment firm. Brentwood Associates acquired the company (formally known as TheoDavies Food Service Group) from Theo H. Davies & Co. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Jardine Matheson Ltd. Theo H. Davies & Co. Ltd. was one of the original "Big Five" - Largest established business houses in Hawaii that played a vital role in the commercial history of Hawaii and the Pacific.
